Meet the Teacher

The girls met their preschool teacher this week. It was very nice how orientation was set up. The parents could bring the child to their classroom to meet the teacher and stay in the room while the parents met with the director. Of course as soon as we enter the building Emma decides to poop. So here I was introducing myself and the girls to the teacher followed by asking if I can change Emma’s diaper.  Addison did not want to be away from me. I had no choice but to set her down so I could change Emma’s diaper. I laid Emma on the table, she squirmed all over the place and I just knew poop was going to be everywhere all while Addison is sitting on the floor holding her arms up crying, “Mommy, Mommy!” I probably didn’t make the best first impression. Addison did calm down enough for me to leave. However, I was concerned that she was going to be brought back to me. As we listened to the director’s presentation several children were brought back to their mothers crying hysterically. Emma’s reaction was polar opposite from Addison’s. While I was changing her diaper she kept saying, “DOWN! PLAY!” As soon as I let her loose she ran off. It was a struggle to get her to leave. The teacher told me that Addison was fine once I left. Addison has been super clingy since that day. I know she will adjust fine with time. And it’s only two days a week for 3 hours at a time. After Christmas they will stay 4 hours and have lunch at school. We are looking forward to their first day of school next week!

Just as a side note, Addison woke up this morning with a 103.2 fever. Maybe she was coming down with something all week and that made her clingy. Hope she feels better soon. I would hate for her to miss her first day of school.

Mischief! (Emma in pink, Addi in navy) Look how long their hair is getting!

Emma was over getting her picture taken! If you've ever wondered why I put  their hair up like Pebbles from the Flintstones, this photo demonstrates quite well what happens when I try to make it lay flat.

Their first day of school. Emma is in the chair ignoring me. Addison is sitting in front playing with a helicopter.

Just a Few Photos

Not much new going on around here. Just wanted to share a few pictures of the girls. They are getting so big. Their turning into little girls, but I still call them babies!  In a few weeks they are starting school two days a week. I'm excited to see how they react. I know they are going to have so much fun, and will learn so much.

Sweet Moments

Lately, the girls have been trying to figure out how Brian’s schedule works. Every day when I come into their room the first thing they say is, “Daddy?” If it’s a weekday I say, “Daddy is at work.” They repeat “work, work” as if they understand what that means. Today at the park the girls were swinging while I was pushing them. Emma began to say, “Daddy, Daddy?” I explained that he was at work and then I began talking about how we hoped he would have  a good day at work (I generally chit-chat with them all day, so I am sure at times it looks like I am talking to myself).  Emma starts repeating, “Good day! Yay, Yay, Yay!” Addison suddenly holds her hands together in prayer and says, “AMEN!”

I think they are really starting to develop knowledge of time because yesterday when I started getting dinner together Emma moved a chair to the front door and placed it where she could sit and watch for Brian to come home. Addison thought this was great and tried to push Emma out of the chair to join in on the waiting game. So I got another chair and two sweet girls waited on their daddy to return from work.

It’s also very important lately that if either one of them are away from each other (even in a different room) that they ask for “sister”. Aside from the chair incident mentioned above, there have been some really sweet moments of the two of them hugging and sharing toys, food, boppies (pacifiers) with each other without being prompted. During these times Emma even says, “Share!” Although, sometimes they are yelling, “SHARE!” until the other gives in to the request.

I can honestly say they are starting to play with each other more and more. (Side note: People who don’t have twins always tell me how much easier it is to be a mother of twins because they play together! Ha!) I find them doing things they aren’t supposed to do often such as getting on  tabletops, in the bathtub, in closets and cabinets, and running about the house chasing each other until they tumble to the ground while gripping the other in a headlock. At bedtime they have started running out of the room to play. Emma was headed out and Addison wasn’t following at the time. Emma turned around as soon as she noticed and said, “Come on!” as she motioned to Addi with her hand. They crack me up!  It’s really special to see their love for each other!
