Lately, the girls have been trying to figure out how Brian’s
schedule works. Every day when I come into their room the first thing they say
is, “Daddy?” If it’s a weekday I say, “Daddy is at work.” They repeat “work,
work” as if they understand what that means. Today at the park the girls were
swinging while I was pushing them. Emma began to say, “Daddy, Daddy?” I
explained that he was at work and then I began talking about how we hoped he
would have a good day at work (I generally
chit-chat with them all day, so I am sure at times it looks like I am talking
to myself). Emma starts repeating, “Good
day! Yay, Yay, Yay!” Addison suddenly holds her hands together in prayer and
says, “AMEN!”
I think they are really starting to develop knowledge of
time because yesterday when I started getting dinner together Emma moved a
chair to the front door and placed it where she could sit and watch for Brian
to come home. Addison thought this was great and tried to push Emma out of the
chair to join in on the waiting game. So I got another chair and two sweet
girls waited on their daddy to return from work.
It’s also very important lately that if either one of them
are away from each other (even in a different room) that they ask for “sister”.
Aside from the chair incident mentioned above, there have been some really
sweet moments of the two of them hugging and sharing toys, food, boppies
(pacifiers) with each other without being prompted. During these times Emma
even says, “Share!” Although, sometimes they are yelling, “SHARE!” until the
other gives in to the request.
I can honestly say they are starting to play with each other
more and more. (Side note: People who don’t have twins always tell me how much
easier it is to be a mother of twins because they play together! Ha!) I find
them doing things they aren’t supposed to do often such as getting on tabletops, in the bathtub, in closets and
cabinets, and running about the house chasing each other until they tumble to
the ground while gripping the other in a headlock. At bedtime they have started
running out of the room to play. Emma was headed out and Addison wasn’t
following at the time. Emma turned around as soon as she noticed and said, “Come
on!” as she motioned to Addi with her hand. They crack me up! It’s really special to see their love for each
other!
