Good news first:
Blood work for Celiacs Disease and food allergies came back negative! We still
have not talked to the pediatrician about the results. Our appointment is
tomorrow. The tests did show some abnormally low levels of protein and albumin.
This could be diet related or some other issue. So they do want us to see a gastro
doc. That appointment is set up for later this month.

VERY BAD NEWS:
Addison broke left femur at my in-laws house this weekend. She is in a
body cast as you can see from the photos. Poor baby tried to climb out
of her crib during naptime on Saturday. Brian and I had the monitor so
we heard a thump hit the floor. We both rushed upstairs to find Addison
on the floor screaming. I picked her up and oddly enough we could not
see any physical injury. We comforted her and laid down with her for
about an hour. She would fall asleep and then wake up crying every 15
minutes or so. Finally, she looked up at me and said, “Mommy, knee.” So I
tried to look at her knee and she screamed so I knew we had to take a
trip to the emergency room. My in-laws live out in the country. The
closest hospital was 20 minutes away. We waited about 45 minutes to see
the doctor. Then they x-rayed, splinted her leg, and sent us to another
hospital in Dothan, AL by ambulance. The initial prognosis was that
surgery might be needed as well as traction to align the bone again.
Thankfully, it was a clean break and we did not have to put Addison
through surgery. However, they did have to put her to sleep to set the
leg and put on the spica cast. Needless to say, it was scary for all
involved. Emma has had more trouble than Addison. She cries a lot, and
says things like, “Oh no, Addi, Addi!”
My
mother in law is here this week helping. The most challenging parts so
far are changing diapers, staying indoors most of the day, and
entertaining Emma while Addison has to be immobile. The cast will be on
for a 4-12 weeks, most likely the midpoint of that range. We should know
more when we see the orthopedist next week.
