Problem Solved….For Now

After one solid week of trying (and me trying to convince Brian), we decided the girls were not ready for toddler beds. They are simply miserable when they do not get enough sleep, and they could not handle the freedom of their new beds. We couldn’t move them back to the crib because that was not safe. We purchased peapod tents and put them right on top of their toddler beds!  One of my good friends has one she used to take her son to the beach, and I had seen them before on another twin mom’s blog I enjoy reading (Thanks Kristi H.!). Emma and Addison really seem to like sleeping in the tent! These things fold up so easy, are very light weight, and can be set up in about 5 minutes! As far as I am concerned, Addison and Emma can sleep in there until they are too long to fit comfortably. Who knows? We might buy a bigger size when they grow out of it! Just kidding….maybe!

Baby Addison is well rested! Those bangs might grow out in the next year or two :)

Look at Emma's smile! I do understand that is all you can see since her crazy hair is covering everything else!

Breakfast with Daddy, anyone? I don't know if you can tell, but Emma and Addison LOVE Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!

Mickey pancakes!

I just love the way Emma says, "CHEEEEESE!"

Addison, "Hmmm? Where should I start?"

Addison decided the best method is to pick that plate up and lick off the good stuff!

Fed Up!

Okay, I’ve had it with this transition to a toddler bed! My husband says we can’t go back now that we’ve started, but this is NOT working. We are almost one week into this and they have only napped once. I wore them out at the zoo this morning and they still won’t nap. We’ve taken everything out of their room that they can play with (expect each other and their clothes). They simply will not stay in their bed. I’ve tried sitting next to the beds and forcing them to stay in, leaving them in there long enough to exhaust themselves, rubbing backs, rocking, etc. etc. etc.  I know all kids make this transition at some point. Eventually they will learn to sleep again. I just don’t know how much more I can take. They are grumpy. I am grumpy. I am thinking of putting one in a pack n play in another room for naps. Bedtime is not as hard because Brian is here to help. It’s just so frustrating to have twins that were really good sleepers turn into such a challenge. We have stuck to our routine as much as possible so I am at a loss for what else to try.

To spite this terror we call naptime, we had a GREAT morning at the zoo. Addison and Emma have a friend that lives in the neighborhood and goes to the same school. Peyton, their friend, calls them “AddiEmma” as one name. Their so cute when they see each other because they give each other big hugs! They are almost one month apart in age so it’s really nice that they made a friend they can grow up with in the neighborhood. And, it doesn’t hurt that Peyton’s mom and I are friends too!

Everybody pray this toddler bed transition gets better before mommy goes crazy!

Addison and Emma loved the sound this bird made. They kept saying, "More, more!"

As long as the bird was quiet Peyton would get close. She was not fond of the noise!

One of the many pumpkin patches. The girls loved these!

This picture cracks me up! Peyton is chewing on straw and Addison is crawling into the brush behind the pumpkin patch.

Addison's expression when I told her there were snakes back there. "Yeah right mom!" They are such dare devils.

Emma

This is a little blurry, but Peyton is so funny. She is pulling Addison's diaper back and saying, "Got poop?"
