So Much to be Thankful For

The photos below are highlights from the girls birthday with Big Daddy and Nanny. We had a small celebration before their real party. I think we felt a little guilty making them wait so long for Thanksgiving weekend.

Emma and Addison had several opportunities to celebrate their birthday. Once on the actual day with Mom and Dad. Again with Big Daddy and Nanny, Mom and Dad before our vacation. And a third time with most of the family at Thanksgiving.

We had a great Thanksgiving at the farm with family. The cousins are getting to the age that they really enjoy each other. It's so nice that they are so close in age.

Just a little cousin love.

During our Thanksgiving weekend we had a birthday party for Addison and Emma. The farm is a great central place where both sides of the family can meet. Plus, the girls absolutely LOVE being at the farm. We were glad that Aunt Emily and Uncle Jeff  were there to celebrate too. They came all the way from Austin, TX!

Thank you to all our family for helping make such sweet memories for our girls. I'm so excited for the next time we can all be together! Not only will we get to celebrate Christmas, but we will also be celebrate the return of our brother-in-law (Uncle BoBo aka Beau) from a LONG naval deployment. Our nephew, Grady, will also be turning 3! It's going to be a busy and joyful month!

Little Indians

We've had a busy few weeks! Brian and I went to Puerto Rico for a vacation. My in-laws kept the girls for an entire week. We had a great time on our vacation, and Nanny and Big Daddy said the girls were great. When we got back the girls had a preschool performance at church. We forgot our camera so these pics are taken with Brian's phone. The girls were so excited. We made a little Indian hat at home. As you can see they didn't wear it during the performance. You can also see some of the other kids didn't get the memo to dress like a pilgrim or Indian.  Anyway, they sang a couple of songs and it was great!  Below you can see Emma standing in the center holding her hat. She was supposed to be sitting. Her teacher told her to sit down. Emma kept standing so Addison stood up, put her hand on Emma's arm and said, "Emma sit down!"

We're blessed to spend this Thanksgiving with lots of family. We'll be having the girls 2 year old party this Sat. The girls seem to understand the concept of a birthday party so I expect it to be tons of fun. Pictures coming soon!

Happy Birthday to My Sweet Girls

(This is quite a long post with lots of pictures. Just an FYI)

Today Addison and Emma are 2 years old! I know everyone says it, but it really does pass so quickly. I can vividly remember going into labor shortly after having lunch with my husband and our friend on a chilly Wednesday when we still lived in Memphis. Brian swears it was the chili relleno that sent me over the edge! Nevertheless, we made it through a healthy twin pregnancy, and ended up with two tiny babies. Caring for Emma and Addison for the past two years has been the most challenging, joy-filled, amazing adventure I have ever experienced. Most of all I have felt truly blessed and privileged to be the mother of two amazing little girls.

So what’s new with the girls? The main difference I see in them lately is their ability to communicate. They speak in full sentences most of the time.  On Halloween evening we were outside, the girls were dressed in their costumes for trick or treating, and we were playing/waiting for Brian to come home. Brian has a Joe Dirt wig that he wears on Halloween. He had it on when he got home, and when he picked Addison up she said, “Ohh! Daddy be a horsey!” I laugh every time I think of her saying that!  Emma has become very good at saying every one’s first and middle names. She told her teacher at school to call her “Emma Grace” and her sister “Addi Margaret”. Both like to yell, “BRIAN!” from time to time too.

Since this blog is turned into their baby book I want to name a few of their favorite things:

Addison’s Favorites:
Color: Yellow
Food: Any Berry
Book: “Spooky Old Tree”
Toy: Blocks and Puzzles, Balls
Activity: Art and playing outside

Emma’s Favorites:
Color: Yellow
Food: Candy and Fruit
Book: Anything with Mickey or Minnie Mouse
Toy: Blocks, Push toys, riding toys
Activity: Playing Outside

They are both very social and love to talk. All of the neighbors and their teachers tell us that they talk all the time! In fact, neighbors tell us they can hear them coming from a mile away! They play well together and hardly fight. Addison is still more affectionate than Emma. In her words, “Mommy cuddles please” and “Hold you” are phrases I hear all day from Addison.  If I ask Emma if she wants a hug she says, “No.” Emma lets you know when she wants to hug, but more often she prefers to be on the go. They are full of energy! We enjoy watching them grow and learn every day.  We thank God for blessing us with two amazing children!

Emma is really into saying "CHEESE" now. This was taken at their school on the day of their Halloween parade.
